OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL


OCS: Option - 1

Traditional Program

Training in the Traditional OCS Program is done during the monthly weekend drill
period and two week annual training (AT) periods.  It consist of 14 months of
training conducted in three phases.

Phase - I:  Consists of a two week annual training period at Eastover, SC.  This
initial phase stresses orientation to the OCS Program, leadership, counseling,
map reading and land navigation.

Phase - II:  Consist of fourteen weekend drill periods at Fort Bragg, NC.  Training
in this phase includes tactics, military law, communications, effective writing,
personnel management, logistics and other common core subjects.

Phase - III:  Consists of a two week annual training period at Fort McCellan, AL.  
Patrolling and tactics are the central focus of this phase.

Graduation and commissioning at Fort Bragg, NC follows Phase III.


OCS: Option - 2

Accelerated OCS

Training in the Accelerated OCS Program consists of nine weeks of continuous
training conducted in three phases.

Phase - I:  Is a two week annual training period.  This initial phase stresses
orientation to the OCS Program, leadership, counseling, map reading and land
navigation.

Phase - II:  Consists of five weeks at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA where the training
focuses on tactics, military law, communications, effective writing, personnel
management, logistics and other common core subjects.

Phase - III:  Consists of a two week annual training period at Fort McClellan, AL.  
Patrolling and tactics are the focus of this phase.

Graduation and commissioning at Fort Bragg, NC  follows Phase III.

*  Two Accelerated OCS classes are held each year.  They start in January and
June.


OCS:  Option - 3

Federal OCS

Training in the Federal OCS Program consists of 14 weeks of continuous training
held at Fort Benning, GA.  Training is conducted throughout the year.


OCS Enlistment Option:

The OCS Enlistment Option is available to both non-prior service and prior
service applicants seeking to become a commissioned officer in the National
Guard.  Non-prior service applicants will be required to complete basic training
prior to starting Officer Candidate School.

Eligibility:  
(1)   Must be able to pass a Chapter 2 physical.
(2)  Be a U.S. Citizen.
(3)  Be at least 18 but not more than 30 years of age.  (Age waivers are possible
up to 40 years of age).
(4)  Have at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university
prior to OCS enrollment or enlistment.  Additionally, applicants must have
acquired 90 semester hours from an accredited college or university prior to the
anticipated date of commissioning to 2nd Lieutenant.
(5)  Meet mental, physical and moral requirements.
(6)  Contract for a minimum of 6 years for non-prior service applicants or 3 years
for prior service applicants.
(7)  Qualify for a secret or top secret security clearance.
(8)  GT Score of 110 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
(9)  Successfully complete basic training prior to attending OCS.
