Are You Qualified?

The following are a few basic requirements  
to become a member of the
North Carolina National Guard.

those desiring to become a Citizen Soldier.

As a North Carolina National Guard Soldier, you will be a part-time
Soldier training one weekend a month and two weeks each summer
(generally 39 days a year).

and those who want to become Soldiers.

National Guard Soldiers proudly and heroically serve today as they have
since 1636, answering the call to  duty on a moment's notice,
responding to needs greater than their own.

How YOU will make a difference.

You will have two missions as a North Carolina National Guard Soldier:

1.        First, to be ready to respond to the state when the Governor
declares a State of Emergency.  
2.        Second, to serve the United States anywhere in the world when
the President calls.
Non Prior Service:
Prior Service
Age
(1) 18 years of age and less than 42
years of age or-
(2) 42 years of age or older must have at
least 1 year of prior qualifying service
plus the number of years the applicant is
over 42.
Citizenship
U.S. Citizenship is required for any job
requiring a security clearance.  You can
be a Resident Alien with INS I-551 and
served less than 8 years.
Education
Must meet educational requirements for
MOS or option enlisting.
Trainability
Must have qualifying aptitude area score
for the MOS enlisting for
Physical
Eligible for enlistment if meeting medical
procurement standards of AR 40-501 as
well as specific MOS requirements
enlisting for.

Age
17 (with parental permission) or 18 years and
less than 42 years of age
Citizenship
U.S. Citizenship is required for any job

Education
High School Juniors/Seniors in good academic
standing High School Diploma or GED and
Any level of college. - Non GED, High School

Trainability
You must take and pass the Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) with a
minimum score of 31.
Physical
You must be in good physical condition.   You
must also meet height and weight
requirements.  Call if you have questions
about a pre-existing physical condition.
